The results of our last few sales, not least those earlier this month, suggest the eBay market is strong despite the current financial climate. In response to popular demand, we have decided to list another batch of auctions this month!
We offer a scarce early run of Topper comics from 1953; #4 to 8 inclusive, plus the first Topper Christmas issue. Staying with DC Thomson, the final consignment of an early collection is seen with scarce issues from 1939 to 1945.
Character first appearances are keenly sought by collectors not wanting every issue, but just those select few "special" issues. To whet your appetite a run of Beano comics from early 1954 are seen which tell the story of the first few weeks of The Bash Street Kids, known then as 'When the Bell Rings'. Starting with two preview issues (#602 and #603), the very first strip appearance is there (#604) in addition to first showings of Fatty (#605), Plug (#606), Janitor (#607) and Smiffy (#613).
We acquired a small collection of early 70s free gift flyer inserts from a vendor recently and offer the whole lot in this batch - there's Beezer, Dandy, Hotspur, Hornet, Twinkle, Victor and Warlord. Both the free gifts and these flyers are enticing to the collector as they're rarely seen on the market.
It's nearly August so we're pleased to present an array of Holiday Specials, of most note a run of scarce 1970s Twinkle Summer Specials. They form part of a large Twinkle comic collection that came in recently so watch this space in August for a huge listing of Twinkles, from #2 (1968)!
For the first time we list the #1 issue of Knock-out comic, from 1939. This was Amalgamated Press' answer to DC Thomson's Beano and Dandy and became a popular comic throughout the 40s and 50s. With our usual low starting prices, let's see where the market takes this rarity.
Finally, an early collection of Commando war comics round off an 88 auction listing.
